## Thinking about numbers

Step even further away from your target. Do you think you could still score a goal from here?

Thinking about how you’ve been measuring, estimate how far away you are from the target.

If you persevere, can you move further away from the target and still score a goal?

How much further away?

Are you measuring the distance the same way as yesterday or have you decided to try another way of measuring?

What else could you use?

How close do you need to be to the target to score a goal?

How could you measure the distance?

You have worked out how many oranges I needed for one glass of juice so how many would I need for a second glass of the same size?

Use your thinking from yesterday to calculate how many oranges I squeezed for my juice.

How many eggs did we use for our tortilla?

How do you know? How did you work out your answer?

We’ve been exploring the variety of shapes we can make with our dough.

See if you can work out how I made this shape.

How would you describe all the different shapes and surfaces you can see here?

I was wrapping up my dad’s birthday present. I laid his birthday blanket square on the paper so the edges of the blanket and the paper were side by side; parallel.

However, when I pulled the edges of the paper over the blanket to stick one over the other, there was a gap! I didn’t have enough paper!

How did I solve the problem? Why don’t you try wrapping something up and see if that helps you work out the answer?

There is so much going on here! Which numbers are you curious about?

Today I am most interested in how we organise numbers. 020…7729…0826.

Where have you seen numbers organised in this way before?

Why do you think they are spaced out in this way?
